ASUU Strike Update: FG Pleads With Lecturers And Promises To Pay New Minimum Wage In 2019

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige has pleaded with placing university teachers to expose mercy on students by using calling off their strike.

the lecturers, below the auspices of the educational body of workers Union of Universities (ASUU), commenced a nationwide strike because November, last year, over some confrontation between the union and the Federal government.
Ngige, talking with journalists in Awka, Anambra nation on Sunday, additionally declared that Federal government could pay a minimum wage, including that things have been being worked out by way of the Committee saddled with that obligation.
He added that FG will comfortably pay minimum wage, we need to pay it, but there need to be balancing because figures were bandied and we're asking Labour to workout patience.
